Winter Workshops
We hosted a series of three art workshops in the winter, each featuring guest artists who taught drypoint printmaking, acrylic cloud painting, and character design respectively. A big thank you to JH, Lourdes, and Gem for teaching and to eveyone who attended the workshops!
2021 Art Show
We had another virtual student art show in Fall 2021. With a collaboration with the Healing Hearts through Art Club, we were able to feature a diversity of different art styles and mediums under the theme of "emotion." Thank you to the amazing artists who participated in this exhibition! Click here to access the artshow link
Field Sketch Event
On October 14, we gathered VAC members to walk around and sketch outdoor views on the UofT St. George campus. Stops
included the Philosopher’s Walk, Trinity College, and Soldier Tower. There were some great sketches made that day!
Inktober 2021
The 2021 Inktober prompts included "compass," "suit," and "spooky." Thank you to everyone who joined our virtual art sessions and submitted photos of their work!
2021 Yearbook
To wrap up the year, we created a yearbook to commemorate the amazing year that VAS had! The yearbook includes pictures from our events as a reminder of all of the great events we hosted, as well messages from some of our members.
2020 Virtual Exhibition
Our 2020 Fall Student art show was an exciting virtual exhibition which took place on Artsteps, from November 13 to November 30! The exhibition consisted of artworks of different mediums, such as sketches, paintings, and more. Many talented UofT artists were featured in this exhibition, and they got to showcase their unique art styles and express their creativity. Thank you to the amazing artists who participated in this exhibition!
Weekly Drawing Events
We host weekly drawing events on Fridays, which take place on our Discord. We have a different theme each week and fun drawing activities where students can express their creativity. We hosted a casual drawing session, a life drawing session, a character design challenge, coffee painting challenge and much more. Take a break from your studies and create some art with other fellow UofT artists. Come make new friends and enjoy the music!
Inktober 2020
For Inktober, we served up artworks everyday according to the 2020 prompt list! Prompts included “wisp,” “rocket,” “coral”, and many more. We encouraged participants to be creative and spontaneous. We received many fantastic submissions every day, ranging from fun doodles to graphic illustrations. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Art Exhibit
The topic of this multimedia exhibition was about “art revolution." We gathered new artists at the University of Toronto and provided them a stage for showing their potential and self-expression. We had photographs, holograms, music, acrylic-drawings, oil-paintings, pencil-sketches, digital drawings, animations, and more. VicXposure provided a photobooth for people to use at their leisure, as well as photographers and some pizza. Professor Emanuel Istrate brought some of his students' holograms created through the IVP210 course.
Drawing Event
We hosted a drawing event in September 2019, where students gathered to take a break from their studies to sketch and relax. The event took place in OISE. Students got to participate in a fun and informative mini lesson on drawing faces. Everyone who came to the event had a fun time with their friends!
Bake Sale
Held at the Sidney Smiths Commons, we hosted a small bake sale for Valentine’s Day! Entirely homemade from scratch they were a blast to decorate. Using royal icing and food coloring, we managed to create this wide variety of designs (some not shown). Which designs do you like? Even though we had a lot of cleaning up, it was a really great bonding event between execs. Thank you to everyone who came out, whether it was helping the booth or checking out the cookies! Decorating the cookies was a lot of fun that we hope to bring back as an event!
Destresser
In March 2019, we hosted a de-stress event in collaboration with Bricks for hope. This event took place in the Factor - Inwentash building. Students got to participate in painting games, lego building, and playing with cards. UofT students were able take a break from their studies to have some fun with VAS! Thank you to everyone who came!
